Our Scholars: Conversations

I completed my schooling from Noida in the year 2015. Following that, I pursued MBBS from Seth GS Medical College in Mumbai, where I also successfully completed my medical internship in 2021. I am currently pursuing my post-graduation from IIM Ahmedabad after achieving a 99.66 percentile in CAT 2021. As part of the programme, I am now completing my Summer Internship Program (SIP 2023) at Nestle in Gurugram, Haryana.

While the scholarship recognises academic achievement, what has stayed with me most is the willingness of its alumni to support one another. I experienced this while preparing for the Willem C. Vis East Moot. Finding experienced arbitrators willing to volunteer their time was often a challenge. I reached out to fellow Aditya Birla Scholars, and almost immediately, people responded with introductions, connecting us with practitioners in their networks. When I travelled to Hong Kong for the competition, I met several scholars in person. Beyond the moot, our conversations made the community feel far more personal than I had imagined.

Receiving the scholarship gave me the confidence to take on more ambitious opportunities, including trying my hand at international criminal law mooting. Through the process, I developed a serious interest in international criminal law, which I now intend to pursue as a career. The scholarship also expanded my network considerably. Scholars from my own institution helped me access internship opportunities and provided advice on navigating early career decisions. Being part of the ABS community has encouraged me to be more intentional about the goals I set for myself. The recognition and community have contributed to a more purposeful law school experience.”

‘I'm a sailor at heart.’ This line, which I proudly started one of my scholarship essays with, now holds even more significance as I achieved my Sailor certification from the Yachting Association of India. Now, interning in a coveted markets and discretionary trading role at Edelweiss, I blend my love for finance with a passion for calculated risks. Prior to my MBA, I gained rich international experience in bleeding edge fields such as Robotics, Cloud and Industry 5.0 in Japan and Korea. Navigating both the markets and life's vast oceans, I embrace adventure, whether it's surfing the financial and digital waves or freediving into the depths of the oceans. As I aspire to captain India's ship in the global finance and technology seas, I'm honoured to carry the prestigious title of an 'Aditya Birla Scholar' in my future voyages!

My association with the Aditya Birla Scholarship has been a long and memorable one. I graduated from National Law University Jodhpur as an Aditya Birla Scholar. This association with the Group introduced me to the business and management side of the world. It encouraged me to pursue an MBA and equip myself with the knowledge and skills required to excel in this domain. I have been fortunate enough to be recognised as an Aditya Birla Scholar for the second time at IIM Ahmedabad. I hope to eventually leverage my legal knowledge in a business management and leadership-oriented role.

Interacting with accomplished professionals and fellow students during the interview gave me a sense of belief in my own potential. For the first time, I found myself engaging confidently in discussions and expressing my thoughts without hesitation. During my second year, I developed a strong interest in deep learning, contributing to two research papers. I have continued exploring systems, cybersecurity, and software reliability, and am currently working toward my goal of building a comprehensive Android security framework. The Scholarship has provided the confidence to pursue ambitious goals and make meaningful contributions to my field.

Apart from meeting brilliant luminaries, I made some great friends at the Scholarship ceremony. I have tried to incorporate the advice given by the esteemed interviewers into my life, whether it be Mr. Ashok Ramchandran's suggestion of managing life along with passion or Ms. Pallavi Shroff's encouragement to expand my scope to the corporate and trade sectors. In light of the latter, I participated in the John H Jackson ELSA International Trade Law Moot where our team emerged as the winners of the West and South Asian Regional Rounds, set to represent our institution at the WTO Headquarters in the World Rounds in June 2023. All in all, the Aditya Birla Scholarship has not only eased a significant part of my law school but also inspired me to try something new.

The Aditya Birla Scholarship has continued to be a constant driver to pursue excellence with passion and integrity. My professional experiences this year have allowed me to explore diverse areas of legal practice. Following a competitive national selection process, I was selected to assist Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel for the 77th UN International Law Commission session at Geneva. I contributed to research on contemporary questions of international law, broadening my understanding of international legal development. The scholarship is far more than financial assistance; it has evolved into a source of confidence and responsibility.

This award has been a constant source of encouragement, inspiring me to challenge myself across diverse fields and shaping who I am today. Driven by my aspiration to contribute meaningfully through AI/ML and Quantum Computing, I chose courses that challenged me to think beyond the classroom. This led me to work under Prof. Chetan Arora, contributing to AI-for-healthcare research with applications in cancer detection. Being the only student from my institute selected for a GPU systems role at NVIDIA is an achievement I attribute, above all, to my transformative journey as an Aditya Birla Scholar.
